WORKING GROUP
The MetroWest Food Collaborative's working group is made up of members who have committed time to advance specific policy and programmatic changes in service of our mission and vision. Our working group members focus on the three priority areas listed below.

Advance food policy that addresses root causes of food insecurity.

Improve access to existing transportation options, especially for low-income individuals.

Increase availability of healthy, nutritious, and fresh food options through identifying/implementing new food retail or distribution models that overcome transportation barriers to food access.

Improve food affordability

Increase opportunities for food recovery (restaurants, grocery stores, farmers markets, schools, etc.) to ensure healthy food is eaten rather than wasted.

Develop coordinated emergency plans to improve response during times of crisis and create sustained food system capacity.
​
Support local farmers and producers, and community gardening.
COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT
Promote a “culture of health” in our communities by identifying new opportunities and expanding existing opportunities for education around healthy eating.

Support food system engagement and entrepreneurship opportunities.
​
Identify youth development & employment opportunities in the food system to give youth job skills as well as introduce them to jobs in the food system.
